Pictures instead of words

I've been too busy (sick) to really write about all we've been up to this month. So, instead, you get pictures. That's all you really care about anyway!

Last Saturday Ethan participated in his first cross-coutry race. The Pyramid Challenge is organized by the local elementary schools in an effort to encourage kids to participate in physical activities. Kindergarteners run 1/2 mile. Of course, with 5 and 6 year olds, you can talk yourself blue in the face telling them not to run their hardest right at the start, but they'll all do it anyway. In the end, though, they all finished and they all had fun.

Ethan with Lena before the race.

Running hard towards the final turn.
And how better to celebrate a fall day than to play in the leaf pile with the other neighboorhood boys?
Ian willingly participated in the burying- so don't feel the least bit sorry for him.

See? Pure joy.
Mark decide to spend last Sunday celebrating the end of summer-time temperatures by taking Ethan for a canoe ride on Lake Accotink.

He's a natural. That water is also only 5 feet deep, but safety first!

The menfolk paddle home.
